On May 25th KPMG Georgia began its annual charitable soccer tournament in memory of former employee David Mikeladze, who passed away in January 2010 in a car accident.

Teams from KPMG, PwC, Ernst & Young, Deloitte, Free University and Georgian companies will participate in weekend games over the course of the month-long tournament, which has been held each spring since 2010. The winning team will receive a trophy in memory of David. The tournament will raise money for the “David Mikeladze Fund for Future Scientists” which grants scholarships to successful students who lack the financial support to finance their studies in science-related fields. Although David Mikeladze was a finance specialist, he was fond of science and always wanted to become a scientist as a child.

“This tournament has become an important tradition for KPMG and the rest of the participants, who very much enjoy gathering once a year to honor the memory of our beloved friend and former colleague and to make a modest contribution to the fund that supports bright students who very much need our support.” – says Zviad Aitsuradze, the KPMG employee who is in charge of organizing the tournament this year.
