Please see the interview with Ekaterine Navrozashvili – Head of the International Sanctions Unit and Acting Head of the Transaction Monitoring Unit at The Basis Bank

First of all, please tell us about your success story, as we know you are the Head of the International Sanctions Unit and Acting Head of the Transaction Monitoring Unit at The Basis Bank. What stages did you go through, what difficulties did you face, and what stage you are at now?

I have been a “Basisbank” team member since 2023, where I found a friendly and amazing working environment. The bank is a growing financial institution that is constantly focused on development and stability.  For the time being, I hold the positions of the head of the International Sanctions Unit and Transaction Monitoring Unit of “Basisbank”. Personally speaking, these two directions are currently of the greatest importance, interest, and constant development within the banking sector. I love tackling big challenges and managing them. I am currently exactly where I think I should be based on my experience and qualifications.

However, until now, I have gone through quite a long and difficult period. In 1999, I graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of TSU with a master’s degree. A few months after graduating from the university, I started working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, where I worked in the departments of consular and international economic relations.

My career experience in the financial field began in 2004. Although I had no relevant knowledge of banking and no experience working in a financial institution, I had a great desire to continue my career growth in this field and filled out the first application for the vacancy announced. After that, I went through several stages of selection and started working as an operator at the Lilo branch of “Procredit Bank”. Today, I already have 20 years of experience, and during these years I have worked in 8 financial institutions. I changed many positions and directions. Each position and direction was very interesting. I studied all the fields in depth, familiarized myself with the relevant regulations, and attended training courses. I never stopped nor created a comfort zone in one direction or field. When I realized that the direction in which I was employed was becoming exhausted and less interesting to me, I tried to move to another direction, where I would gain new experience and knowledge. I never stopped studying while working, in particular, I took many international and local training courses and certification courses.

From today’s perspective, it seems like my journey was easy, but it wasn’t. As I already mentioned, I have changed my workplace 9 times, there were layoffs, and I had to leave my job 2 times based on my application, but again, every time I started everything from scratch, tirelessly and full of optimism.

What’s the biggest factor that has helped you be successful?

The most important factor that helped me achieve success is my restless character, which never allows me to relax and stop. I love difficult challenges, and innovations and I am very optimistic. Even when everything seems to be going wrong, I still think that everything will be fine and look for a solution. I am not afraid of difficulties and never look back. In addition to character, my multifaceted work experience and knowledge, which I have acquired in past positions, play a crucial role in achieving success.

What are the benefits of having women in leadership?

I find modern business or any organization inconceivable without women in leading or ordinary positions. It is sad to note that even today we are faced with the gender-based violation of people’s rights, which must be changed by all of us, as soon as such a fact is observed.

I think there are just as many benefits from women in leadership positions as men. There are numerous studies and articles about successful women and their achievements in business, science, and society, but I consider the biggest benefit that women bring to the organization is the work environment, which I find colorless and uninteresting without the involvement and participation of women. The participation of women makes the company more successful and competitive, both inside and outside the organization.

Finally, let’s wrap up with the traditional question, what would you advise aspiring professionals and young people who are now taking their first career steps?

I advise budding professionals and young people to never be satisfied with the results achieved and never do the job the way they were taught, but try to do it better. I also advise them to have their own opinion on everything based on knowledge and yet always listen to the opinions of team members and take their recommendations into account when making the final decision. The main thing is not to be afraid of difficulties and constantly be at the epicenter of news and challenges.

პირველ რიგში, გთხოვთ, მოგვიყვეთ თქვენი წარმატების ისტორიის შესახებ,  როგორც ვიცით თქვენ ხართ ბაზის ბანკის საერთაშორისო სანქციების განყოფილების უფროსი და ტრანზაქციების მონიტორინგის განყოფილების უფროსის მოვალეობის შემსრულებელი. რა ეტაპები გაიარეთ, რა სირთულეებს გადააწყდით და რა ეტაპზე იმყოფებით ახლა.

2023 წლიდან შემოვუერთდი „ბაზისბანკის“ გუნდს, სადაც საოცრად კარგი სამუშაო და მეგობრული გარემო დამხვდა. ის არის მზარდი ფინანსური ინსტიტუტი, რომელიც მუდმივად განვითარებასა და სტაბილურობაზეა ორიენტირებული. ამ ეტაპზე ვიკავებ „ბაზისბანკის“ საერთაშორისო სანქციების განყოფილებისა და ტრანზაქციების მონიტორინგის განყოფილების უფროსის პოზიციებს. ვფიქრობ, ეს ორი მიმართულება თანამედროვე საბანკო სექტორში ყველაზე მნიშვნელოვანი, საინტერესო და მუდმივად განვითარებადია. მიყვარს დიდ გამოწვევებთან შეჭიდება და მათი მართვა და ამჟამად ზუსტად იქ ვარ, სადაც საკუთარი გამოცდილებისა და კვალიფიკაციის შესაბამისად უნდა ვიყო.

თუმცა დღემდე საკმაოდ გრძელი და არაერთი რთული პერიოდი გავიარე. 1999 წელს დავამთავრე თსუ-ს მექანიკა-მათემატიკის ფაკულტეტი მაგისტრატურა. უნივერსიტეტის დამთავრებიდან რამდენიმე თვეში დავიწყე მუშაობა საქართველოს საგარეო საქმეთა სამინისტროში, საკონსულო და საერთაშორისო ეკონომიკური ურთიერთობის დეპარტამენტებში.

საფინანსო სფეროში ჩემი კარიერული გამოცდილება 2004 წლიდან იწყება. მიუხედავად იმისა, რომ არ მქონდა შესაბამისი ცოდნა და გამოცდილება საბანკო საქმიანობასა და ფინანსურ ინსტიტუტში მუშაობისა, ყოველთვის მინდოდა ამ სფეროში გამეგრძელებინა ჩემი კარიერული ზრდა. შესაბამისად გამოცხადებულ ვაკანსიაზე შევავსე პირველივე აპლიკაცია, შემდეგ გავიარე შერჩევის რამდენიმე ეტაპი და დავიწყე ოპერატორად მუშაობა „პროკრედიტ ბანკის“ ლილოს ფილიალში. დღეს საბანკო სფეროში ოცწლიანი სამუშაო გამოცდილება მაქვს და ამ ხნის განმავლობაში რვა ფინანსურ ინსტიტუტში ვიმუშავე, შევიცვალე მრავალი თანამდებობრივი პოზიცია და მიმართულება. თითოეული მათგანი ძალიან საინტერესო იყო, რადგან ყველაფერს ვსწავლობდი სიღრმისეულად, ვეცნობოდი შესაბამის რეგულაციებს და ვესწრებოდი ტრენინგებს, არასდროს ვჩერდებოდი და არ ვიქმნიდი კომფორტის ზონას ერთ მიმართულებასა ან სფეროში. როცა ვხვდებოდი, რომ მიმართულება, სადაც დასაქმებული ვიყავი, ჩემთვის უკვე ამოწურული და ნაკლებად საინტერესო ხდებოდა, ვცდილობდი, გადამენაცვლა სხვაში, სადაც ახალ გამოცდილებასა და ცოდნას შევიძენდი.

მუშაობასთან ერთად სწავლა არასდროს შემიწყვეტია, კერძოდ, კვალიფიკაციის ამაღლების მიზნით გავიარე მრავალი საერთაშორისო თუ ადგილობრივი ტრენინგი და სასერთიფიკატო კურსი. დღევანდელი გადასახედიდან თითქოს მარტივი ჩანს განვლილი გზა, თუმცა ეს ასე ნამდვილად არ ყოფილა. როგორც უკვე ვახსენე, ცხრაჯერ შევიცვალე სამუშაო ადგილი, იყო შემცირებებიც, ორჯერ კი საკუთარი განცხადების საფუძველზეც მომიწია სამსახურის დატოვება, მაგრამ ყოველთვის ყველაფერს ვიწყებდი ისევ თავიდან, ისევ დაუღალავად და ოპტიმიზმით სავსე განწყობით.

რა არის ის ყველაზე მნიშვნელოვანი ფაქტორი, რომელიც დაგეხმარათ წარმატების მიღწევაში.

ყველაზე მნიშვნელოვანი ფაქტორი, რაც დამეხმარა წარმატების მიღწევაში, არის ჩემი მოუსვენარი ხასიათი, რომელიც არასდროს მაძლევს მოდუნების და შეჩერების საშუალებას. მიყვარს რთული გამოწვევები, სიახლეები და ვარ ძალიან ოპტიმისტი. მაშინაც კი, როცა ყველაფერი მიანიშნებს იმისკენ, რომ საქმე ცუდად მიდის, მაინც ვფიქრობ, რომ ყველაფერი კარგად იქნება და ვეძებ გამოსავალს, არ ვუშინდები სირთულეებს და არასდროს ვიხედები უკან. გარდა ხასიათისა, წარმატების მიღწევაში ძალიან დიდ როლს თამაშობს ჩემი მრავალმხრივი სამუშაო გამოცდილება და ცოდნა, რაც წარსულ პოზიციებზე გამოვიარე.

რა ბენეფიტები მოაქვს კომპანიისთვის ქალებს წამყვან პოზიციებზე?

თანამედროვე ბიზნესი ან ნებისმიერი ორგანიზაცია წარმოუდგენლად მიმაჩნია წამყვან თუ რიგით თანამდებობებზე ქალების გარეშე. სამწუხაროა ის ფაქტი, რომ დღესაც ვაწყდებით ადამიანების უფლებების დარღვევას გენდერული ნიშნით. ასეთი ფაქტის დაფიქსირებისთანავე აუცილებლად უნდა შევცვალოთ თითოეულმა ჩვენგანმა.

ვფიქრობ, ქალებს წამყვან პოზიციებზე ზუსტად ისეთივე სარგებელი მოაქვთ, როგორიც – მამაკაცებს. უამრავი კვლევა და სტატიაა წარმატებულ ქალებსა და ბიზნესში, მეცნიერებასა თუ საზოგადოებაში მათ მიღწევებზე, მაგრამ ყველაზე დიდ სარგებლად, რაც ქალებს მოაქვთ ორგანიზაციებისათვის, სამუშაო გარემოს ვთვლი, რომელიც მათი ჩართულობის და მონაწილეობის გარეშე უფერულად და უინტერესოდ მიმაჩნია. ქალების მონაწილეობა კომპანიას უფრო წარმატებულსა და კონკურენტუნარიანს ხდის როგორც ორგანიზაციის შიგნით, ასევე მის გარეთ.

და ბოლოს, შემოვიფარგლებით ტრადიციული კითხვით, რას ურჩევდით დამწყებ პროფესიონალებსა და ახალგაზრდებს, რომლებიც ახლა დგამენ პირველ კარიერულ ნაბიჯებს.

დამწყებ პროფესიონალებს და ახალგაზრდებს ვურჩევ, არასდროს დასჯერდნენ მიღწეულ შედეგებს და არ შეასრულონ საქმე ისე, როგორც ასწავლეს, უნდა ეცადონ მის უკეთ შესრულებას. მათ ასევე ვურჩევ, რომ ყველაფერზე ჰქონდეთ საკუთარი აზრი, რომელიც ცოდნაზე იქნება დაფუძნებული და ყოველთვის მოუსმინონ გუნდის წევრების მოსაზრებებს და გაითვალისწინონ მათი რეკომენდაციები საბოლოო გადაწყვეტილების მიღების დროს. მთავარია, არ შეუშინდნენ სირთულეებს და მუდმივად იყვნენ სიახლეებისა და გამოწვევების მისაღებად.
